This eclectic home in Catalonia, in the north east of Spain, was designed by Ramón de Abadal. Lots of interesting details in this overall masculine home.
In the foyer a striking black and white portrait by Pablo Márquez. Below, a Chinese console with a picture signed by Ramón de Abadal and two Coptic crosses from Ethiopia. The two x-chairs are Renaissance Italian nineteenth century. White painted barrel vault ceiling.
Interior designer Ramón de Abadal in the dining room.
A full height bookcase separate the living room and dining room from the kitchen. These spaces open onto a terrace with a succession of aluminum framed windows. The blue velvet upholstered ottoman is from Indonesia. African pillows on the right. The rug is from Mauritania. Bare brick walls on the left and dark stained wide plank boards for the floor.
The living room viewed from another angle. Souvenirs from travels to Asia are displayed on the oversized ottoman. To the side there is a central courtyard which can be viewed from the reupholstered chaise lounge.
Simple long wooden table and benches for the dining room.
A second dining area with zig zag chairs around an iron leg table designed by Ramón de Abadal. A nineteenth century Chinese lacquered cabinet on the right.
Modern lines for the kitchen. Black granite was used for the countertops.
A very masculine master bedroom. A large wardrobe with mirrored sliding doors multiply the light. The bed is made with woven rattan. The rug is nineteenth century and the night tables are carved wooden trunks.
A bath tub and sink (shown below) were placed in the corridor that leads to the master bedroom.
An Indian marble basin contrasts with the modern wall faucet. Portrait of Ramón de Abadal by Barnaby Ruhe.
Outdoor dining area shaded by a wooden pergola covered with wisteria. Teak wood floors and terracotta pots define the space.
