'..when the movement of the sun gradually changes throughout the day and interacts with the angled perforations in the building's concrete shell, a visual 'play' of light and shadows occur, creating an ever-changing lightplay that reflects back upon the building's main purpose - to serve as Edinburgh's Lightsculpture Gallery.'

'The site is located just below the southeastern corner of Edinburgh's monumental and steep Castle Hill, in King's Stables Road. It is attached to the well-known and famous Grassmarket area but has great potential for development because it basically consists of a steep grass hill today.'

'The project is a part of a larger scheme that aims to develop the lightsculpture gallery with a workshop along with 60 new residential units specially proposed for students studying at the nearby lying Edinburgh College of Art. The main objective is to create a new and vibrating part of Edinburgh which provides young and creative people with the necessary facilities to explore their abilities as artists or designers together..'
